I sat here for about 5 minutes trying to think of how to start this post. Lets talk about this album first. Whats going on was recorded in 10 days, was almost never released because, at the time, Marvin was known as a sex symbol and not political, probably the best start to finish album ever created. I could go on and on... Whats Going On deals with the issues facing communities all over america. Low wages, crime, police brutality, un employment etc... Mind you it was released in 1971 (over 30 years ago) yet every word of Inner City Blues fits today. Listen to the words of the song. You could almost imagine he was talking about today.
